Why are made-to-order artworks considered final sale?

Every artwork at The Picturalist is produced exclusively for you.

From the moment your order is placed, your selected artwork is individually printed using archival museum-grade materials, carefully framed by hand, and finished according to your chosen size, frame, and presentation. Nothing is mass-produced or held in inventory.

This bespoke approach allows us to deliver exceptional quality while ensuring every piece is crafted specifically for its future home.

Should you have any questions before ordering, our Art Advisors are always pleased to assist with sizing, framing, or presentation recommendations.

What happens if my artwork arrives damaged?

Your artwork is fully protected throughout its journey.

Should your order arrive damaged in transit, we will replace it promptly at no cost to you.

Simply email photographs of both the packaging and the artwork to info@thepicturalist.com within seven days of delivery. Your replacement will be prioritized immediately.

What if there is a printing or craftsmanship defect?

We stand behind every artwork we produce.

If your piece arrives with a printing imperfection, finishing defect, or does not meet our museum-quality standards, please contact us within seven days of delivery.

We will produce and ship a replacement at no additional cost.

Framing and Substrates

What printing method do you use?

All prints are giclée (archival inkjet) on Hahnemühle, Canson, or Legion Papers (100% cotton rag, 250–320 GSM). Inks are UV-proof, acid-free, and color-stable for 80–120 years.

What is a Shadow Box frame?

A shadow box presents the artwork on a foamboard pedestal inside a deep frame, lined with archival matting on all sides. The print appears to float above the mat, creating a gallery-depth effect. Edges can be straight or hand-torn (deckled).

What are the available substrates?

Archival Paper: Museum-quality 100% cotton rag, matte finish

Canvas: Poly-cotton blend with 1.5-inch stretcher bars, embellished with varnish

Chromaluxe HD Metal Print: UV-printed on aluminum; rust-proof, suitable for humid spaces and outdoor areas

LED Backlit Fabric: Printed on mat fabric in an ultra-slim LED frame (1.6 inches deep); dimmable, 20,000+ hour lifespan
