Paul Laffin transforms real satellite imagery into striking studies of colour, geometry and natural form. His Fields From Orbit collection reveals the moment geography begins to read as abstraction—offering distinctive wall art for interior design, hospitality and commercial spaces.

Paul Laffin | Fields From Orbit

Paul Laffin is the Toronto-based artist and curator behind Fields From Orbit, an ongoing exploration of the Earth transformed into art through real satellite imagery.

Working with true-colour satellite captures, Laffin searches the planet for those rare moments when familiar geography begins to look almost completely abstract. Agricultural grids become geometric compositions. Rivers turn into gestural lines. Ice, sand, water and mineral deposits create unexpected fields of colour. Each image represents a real location, identified by its coordinates and capture date.

Laffin does not invent or composite these landscapes. He discovers them. Each work is processed from raw satellite data without illustration or constructed imagery. The resulting compositions reveal patterns already present on the Earth's surface—the accidental visual language created by agriculture, geology, climate and water.

Earth as Abstract Art

For The Picturalist, Fields From Orbit offers a compelling new approach to wall art for interior design. The works can be appreciated first for colour, form and composition, then rediscovered as actual places viewed from an extraordinary perspective. Their visual ambiguity makes them particularly suited to High-End Interior Design Art, Commercial Art Prints, hospitality projects, offices and residential interiors looking for imagery beyond conventional landscape photography.

Paul Laffin is based in Toronto, Canada.
