Ordering Process

How do I place an order for framed art prints?

Browse our collection, select the artwork, choose your size and frame options, and add to cart. Follow the secure checkout to complete your order.

What frame options are available?

We offer wood, metal, and acrylic frames in multiple finishes. See our Frames for Paper Prints and Floater Frames for Canvas and Metal pages for full options.

Can I customize the size?

Yes. Select your preferred dimensions during checkout. For sizes not listed, contact us at info@thepicturalist.com.

Can I request a custom artwork or color match?

Yes. Provide a Pantone shade, Benjamin Moore color reference, or fabric scan and we will match the artwork. Custom color matching and new designs are priced at $45/hour. A 25% surcharge applies to brand-new custom artwork commissions, paid directly to the artist.

Do I need to create an account to order?

No, but registering gives you access to promo codes, wishlists, and newsletter offers. Trade professionals (designers, architects, showrooms) can apply for a trade account to access net pricing.

We cannot ship to P.O. boxes, APO/FPO addresses, or US Territories for framed artwork.

Framing and Substrates

What printing method do you use?

All prints are giclée (archival inkjet) on Hahnemühle, Canson, or Legion Papers (100% cotton rag, 250–320 GSM). Inks are UV-proof, acid-free, and color-stable for 80–120 years.

What is a Shadow Box frame?

A shadow box presents the artwork on a foamboard pedestal inside a deep frame, lined with archival matting on all sides. The print appears to float above the mat, creating a gallery-depth effect. Edges can be straight or hand-torn (deckled).

What are the available substrates?

  • Archival Paper: Museum-quality 100% cotton rag, matte finish
  • Canvas: Poly-cotton blend with 1.5-inch stretcher bars, embellished with varnish
  • Facemount Acrylic: Print mounted under glossy acrylic glass for vivid depth; unframed or in a floater frame
  • Facemount Metal (Chromaluxe): UV-printed on aluminum; rust-proof, suitable for humid spaces and outdoor areas
  • LED Backlit Fabric: Printed on mat fabric in an ultra-slim LED frame (1.6 inches deep); dimmable, 20,000+ hour lifespan

What is a floater frame?

Floater frames are used with canvas, acrylic, and metal prints. They sit recessed around the edge of the artwork with a visible gap, creating a floating effect without covering the image surface.

Quality, Returns and Warranty

What is your return policy?

All artwork is custom-made to order and is final sale. We do not accept returns. If your piece arrives damaged, email claims@thepicturalist.com with photos of the packaging and damage within 30 days. We will replace it at no charge.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. All products carry a 1-year warranty from the date of delivery against manufacturing defects under normal use conditions. Damage from direct sunlight, excessive humidity, or physical misuse is excluded.

Do the prints include an artist's signature?

Prints are high-quality reproductions and do not include the original artist's signature. Each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity from The Picturalist or Getty Images (for the Getty Images collection). Limited Edition prints include a signed and numbered certificate.
