No Cross-Border Tariffs on The Picturalist Artwork in the U.S. or Canada

When you are sourcing artwork for a home, hotel, office or interior design project, the price you see should not suddenly change because of unexpected import tariffs or customs charges.

At The Picturalist, we have structured our production specifically to avoid that problem for clients in both the United States and Canada.

If your artwork is being delivered in the United States, it is produced and shipped within the United States.

If your artwork is being delivered in Canada, it is produced and shipped within Canada.

That means your order does not cross the U.S.–Canada border and is therefore not subject to import tariffs or cross-border customs duties between the two countries.

Made in the Country Where It Is Delivered

Our approach is simple: produce the artwork as close as possible to the client receiving it.

For U.S. clients, The Picturalist works with U.S. production ateliers to print, frame and ship artwork domestically.

For Canadian clients, artwork is produced and shipped within Canada.

There is no unnecessary border crossing between the two markets. No customs brokerage between Canada and the United States. No import tariff added because a framed artwork happened to be produced on the other side of the border.

For interior designers, hospitality buyers and commercial clients, this makes budgeting much more predictable.

Why This Matters for Interior Design Projects

Art procurement often comes near the end of a project.

By that stage, budgets are established, installation dates matter and there is little appetite for unexpected costs.

A designer specifying several Framed Art Prints for Hospitality, a developer furnishing model suites or a hotel purchasing a large Curated Art Collection needs to know what the artwork will actually cost.

Domestic production helps remove one more variable from that process.

The price of the artwork is not followed by an unexpected cross-border tariff simply because the piece was made in another country.

That makes The Picturalist a more practical Interior Design Art Source for projects in both Canada and the United States.

A More Efficient Way to Produce Made-to-Order Art

Most of our artwork is made to order.

That gives our clients the flexibility to select the image first, then determine the size, medium and framing that best suit the wall.

A large living room may require a 40 × 60-inch statement piece. A hotel corridor may need a coordinated series. A bedroom may call for something quieter and more intimate.

Because the artwork is produced for the project rather than pulled from fixed inventory, we can combine Bespoke Wall Art Solutions with domestic production.

The result is artwork made at the appropriate scale without creating an unnecessary international shipping route.

Better for Trade and Hospitality Buyers

This production model is especially useful for professional clients.

Interior designers, hoteliers, property developers, staging companies and corporate buyers often need multiple pieces produced within a predictable timeframe and budget.

By producing U.S. orders in the U.S. and Canadian orders in Canada, we can offer Turnkey Art Solutions without the uncertainty associated with cross-border importation.

For a hospitality project, this can mean a coordinated collection of framed artwork produced and delivered domestically.

For a residential designer, it means sourcing High-End Interior Design Art in the size required by the project without having to calculate possible import charges.

For commercial buyers, it creates a much clearer procurement process.

No Import Tariffs Does Not Mean No Sales Tax

One distinction is important.

When we say that our U.S. and Canadian clients do not pay import tariffs on orders produced and delivered within their own country, we are referring specifically to customs duties and cross-border import tariffs.

Normal sales taxes may still apply depending on the delivery location and applicable tax rules.

There is simply no additional import tariff created by moving the artwork across the Canada–U.S. border, because the artwork does not make that crossing.

Art Produced for the Wall, Not for the Border

The Picturalist was created to make high-quality art easier to specify for real interiors.

That means offering more than a catalogue of images.

It means providing Artwork for Interior Design Projects in appropriate sizes, carefully framed, produced efficiently and delivered in a way that makes sense for the client.

Our domestic production model is part of that philosophy.

U.S. order. Produced in the U.S.

Canadian order. Produced in Canada.

No U.S.–Canada border crossing. No import tariff between the two markets. No unnecessary complication.

Just beautifully produced artwork, made for the space where it will live.
