ABOUT THE ARTIST

Yolanda Carbayo lives and works in Madrid.
Graduated in Fine Arts with a specialty in restoration from the Complutense University of Madrid, working as a restorer for the National Heritage Council.

She learned using traditional analog techniques such as pastel,
oil, acrylic, and at the moment she uses digital techniques. Her style transcends genre boundaries to make her creations simple but to the point.

Her painting navigates between figuration and abstraction, where geometry almost always emerges as a link. She is interested in the purity of the line in the drawing, the balance of the compositions and the harmony of the forms.
Inspiration can come from anywhere. I get inspired by traditional art pieces I see in museums and I make them mine using asymmetrical and organic lines and geometry, in solid and uniform shapes.
