Created by award-winning French designer Bruno de Caumont, the 25-piece collection features luxurious and strikingly original geometric designs in hand-tufted, hand-knotted silk and New Zealand wool.
“These rugs are part of the sophisticated world I like to design,” says Bruno de Caumont. “They take inspiration from my travels and cultural discoveries. They pay tribute to the nobility of the silk and wool used in the meticulous, artisanal manufacture of these rugs. My trips to India and Nepal have been particularly productive, enabling me to find rug production workshops that meet my quality standards and requirements.
“Indo-Nepalese know-how has produced beautifully hand-knotted and naturally-dyed rugs since the 17th century. The modernity of my rug designs combines perfectly with the traditional craftsmanship found in these countries. Using this 300-year-old expertise, I want to create the classics of tomorrow.”
A recent article in The New York Times praised Caumont’s work and called it “one of the highlights” of the International Maison et Objet furniture fair. Caumont’s design prowess is in his DNA. He is a descendant of the French architect who designed the Place de la Concorde in Paris, and the Petit Trianon in Versailles, made famous by Marie Antoinette.
“Interior designers and retailers have raved about De Caumont’s on-trend, colorful designer rugs for some time,” says Roy Caro Cohen, Design Curator at the Picturalist. “Making them easily available on our website meets a demand for floor covering quality and convenience in the digital marketplace.
“We warmly welcome Bruno de Caumont to our exclusive design family. He is a rising star. We anticipate ever-greater enthusiasm for his brilliant rug creations within the interior design and retail community.”
