In combination with the latest printing technology, The Picturalist
uses 100% archival paper and fade-proof archival inks to achieve
stunning prints in rich, vivid colors. We print on thick, white,
premium grade matte papers from worldly renowned suppliers
like Hahnemühle, Canson and Legion Papers.
You also have several choices when using a mat:
Without a mat:
You can frame the artwork you choose without a mat on 2 variations:
Without a white border or "full bleed, meaning the frame will slightly
overlap the artwork by 1/4 inch as shown below.
or with a white border all around, typically 2 inch wide.
With a mat
If you choose to have your print with a mat, we offer thick acid free mats,
featuring a sharp 8 ply thick angled edge that highlights the artwork.
Depending on the artwork you choose, consider using the
"off-white" mat for antique prints, with a black frame. This
softer white mat won't be as stark and will blend well in
If you desire a more contemporary look, consider a white
frame and a thick white mat.
We offer a black mat option on a number of prints,
for a more dramatic contrast. If this option is not offered
please email us and we will create it for you.
We call this method of framing "floating" for two reasons. First,
we attach the printed artwork to an acid-free foam core lift, hidden
behind the work, but mounted to a supporting white mat. We then
use a spacer to create a gap between the plexiglass and the surface
of the printed artwork. The result is a look that keeps your art "floated"
in the center of the frame. The foam core lift adds a slight shadow
around your art adding a sense of depth, drawing extra attention and
making it more special.
Choice of frames
Our framed prints feature real wood mouldings and UV acrylic glass.
Our acrylic glass is more expensive than glass, but we use it because
it’s clearer, far more impact resistant and protects your piece against UV rays.
Framing-grade acrylic has become a new standard in framing. All artwork
comes with a wire ready to hang on your wall.
At The Picturalist, we check each artwork by hand before it leaves the premises.
We then place it in a protective cover inside art-secure packaging. We offer
door to door delivery to your home or to your drop-ship location on weekdays
