Founder and Curator
“Stylemaker of this very refined modernist approach, a very polished and distinguished style” —Suzanne Dimma, Editor in Chief, House & Home Magazine
"[Roy Caro is among] Les leaders du design québécois” —Maison & Demeure
ROY CARO COHEN brings more than 30 years of art, business, entrepreneurial and interior design expertise to his role as Founder & Design Curator at The Picturalist. He has worked as one of Quebec’s (and Canada’s) leading interior design influence as co-founder of Celadon Collection both independently and in collaboration with top design consultancies, manufacturers, and retailers.
His creations have been featured in House & Home, Maison & Demeure, Deco Luxe Design, Decormag, and Chez Soi.
He has also founded design award-winning café-restaurants, praised by, among others, The New York Times and Canada’s national newspaper The Globe & Mail.
Roy now roams the world to select Fine Art for Designed Interiors. His intimate acquaintance with the tastes, needs, and sensibilities of designers, retailers, hoteliers and the public enables him to say “I help people create spaces they want to work, live, and love in.”
After his 13 year experience owning a high-end retail business selling couture furnishings, Celadon Collection, he realized the design world lacked an alternative to art galleries. When conceiving a design, clients might want originals for certains rooms. The options to dress the remaining walls according to specific design directions, were scarce and deliveries long.
After selling the showrooms he decided to launch The Picturalist. A curated collection of artwork for interior design combining his experience of the luxury furniture market taste and standards with e-commerce technology.
