ROY CARO COHEN

Roy Caro Cohen has been a leading talent in the design industry for over 3 decades. Caro’s signature style is a seamless blend of European classicism and American modernism, a fresh, sophisticated approach that encourages homeowners to live with the things they love.

Roy’s knowledge and appreciation for the past is nurtured by his life interest for furnishings and his talent for spotting future trends in design. Whether assembling a furniture collection or creating interiors for his clients, Roy reflects a deep respect for tradition, viewed through a modern eye.

Background:

Raised in Spain, Roy was immersed in interior design from childhood at his father’s design studio in Madrid. In 1984, he pursued a law degree before moving to the U.S., back to the world of design under the tutelage of his uncle, a renowned antique dealer in New York City. In the early 1990’s Caro Cohen moved to Montreal where he founded Café El Dorado, an award-winning restaurant which the New York Times and The Globe and Mail ranked as one of the best ten cafés in Canada.

In 2004, Roy opened high end furnishing store Celadon Collection with Montreal designer Scott Yetman. In 2015 Caro Cohen sold the store, forming The Picturalist, an ecommerce art platform which services the interior design community.

The Picturalist has since evolved from projects for interior designer clients to a hospitality art line of framed custom art prints. The Picturalist is sold in multi-line showrooms across the USA and Canada, representing a curated selection of emerging artists from all backgrounds.

Roy’s creations have been featured repeatedly in interior design publications such as House & Home, Maison & Demeure, Deco Luxe Design, Decormag, and Casual Living.
